The University of Sydney is recruiting an additional Professor of Medical Physics, to a post jointly funded by the New South Wales (NSW) Ministry of Health and the University of Sydney and will have responsibilities to both, including providing advice to the former in relevant areas of expertise. The appointee will work closely with the current Director of the Institute of Medical Physics, Professor David Thwaites and there are also close links with other University groups and collaborating hospitals,  such as the Medical Faculty’s Radiation Physics Laboratory, led by Professor Paul Keall (including the Australian MRI-linac project , sited at Liverpool Hospital)/The Ingham Institute).  

Given the funding and advisory requirements of the post, the successful appointee will have clinical and academic experience in radiation oncology medical physics, including related imaging,  S/he will join existing research projects and groups,  as well as develop their own research interests, working in close collaboration with medical physicists in research institutes and hospitals in NSW.  S/he will be actively engaged in supporting improvements in academic involvement of medical physics staff across NSW.

Term

The position will be offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 5 years. There may be the possibility for extension, depending on the financial situation and academic requirements at the time.
