Professor in Medical Radiation Physics
7. september 2011 - Klaus SeiersenA new position as professor in Medical Radiation Physics is available at the Department of Oncology and Medical Physics, Aarhus University Hospital and Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark.
The professor will be responsible for coordinating and advancing basic, translational and clinical research in medical radiation physics including particle radiotherapy at the Department of Oncology in Aarhus. The professor is expected to actively contribute to the integrated research environment of the department. The applicant must have qualifications at professor level within medical physics, and should have an academic track record at a highly competitive level and a wide international network.
The Department of Oncology integrates the activities in the clinical department (radiotherapy, systemic therapy and palliative care), the Department of Medical Physics, and the Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology. The radiotherapy section has 12 linear accelerators, all of which are equipped with on-board imaging and other relevant facilities for high precision radiotherapy including volumetric dynamic arc therapy and stereotactic treatments. The Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology is conducting clinically oriented translational research in oncology, especially focusing on research related to radiotherapy and its application. The institution has a large clinical trials unit and excellent opportunities for translational research in the integrated clinical research environment.
The current research activities focus mainly on radiation oncology issues, and the Department of Oncology is home to the national Center for Interventional Research in Radiation Oncology (www.CIRRO.dk). The research staff at the Department of Oncology currently includes 4 professors (2 radiation oncology, 1 clinical oncology, 1 psycho-oncology), 17 associate professors (7 full time - including 3 medical physicists, 10 part time (MDs)), 9 post-docs, 34 PhD students and a number of master students.

The annual salary for a university professor is DKK 521.093 + retirement pension 17.1%. Foreign scientists can apply for reduced income tax (26%).
